planning to visit Joffre Lakes? Read this first!
Joffre Lakes Provincial Park is very busy on Saturdays, Sundays and holiday Mondays, so you’ll often find parking lots full, and the trail busy. Parking lots will often reach capacity by 9:00 AM, and parking on the side of the highway is strictly prohibited, with parking restrictions being enforced by the RCMP, Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and BC Parks. As of June 29, 2019, vehicles parked on the side of the highway will be towed away!
Beginning on June 29, 2019, a shuttle bus will allow public access to Joffre Lakes trailhead. The shuttle provides a safe and legal alternative to vehicles parked along the highway.
If you choose to use the shuttle, you’ll be able to park at Cayoosh Lot, located approximately 2km north of Joffre Lakes, and board the shuttle to Joffre Lakes there. Note that the shuttle will be able accommodate a limited number of visitors, so arrive early to increase your chance of securing a spot.
The shuttle costs $10.00 per person (including GST). A portion of the seats can be reserved online at a discounted rate ($7.00 per person), while the rest will be available on first-come, first-served basis. Shuttle details >>
Important: do not rely on the parking shuttle, unless you have prior reservation, as demand is expected to be greater than capacity on most days of operation. Consider visiting alternative destinations, taking Parkbus from Vancouver or Whistler, or visiting Joffre Lakes at an off-peak time (during mid-week).
